Dear Families!

I won’t write too long of a note today as this is coming out a little late this week!

On Sunday I met with our Adivsory Board and we had a great meeting! Lots of good stuff for Spring. As a group we decided not to go ahead with plans for our small outdoor space, there is a great park down the street right!, Instead I am going to look into buying an outdoor shed to use there as an extra storage space for swap stuff which will allow for more storage for our Food Buying Groups and toys in our play space!

Our new handbook will be coming out soon to everyone! And, a revised mission statement that I will be posting in the space for everyone to see.

We have new Spring Events… details below including a new music time thanks to some talented members!

Enjoy your week playing, sharing, and swapping!

It’s Bread Time!
Max. of 15 loaves per family
Sometimes they are out of certain types of bread so if you are OK with a substitute please list that in the comments.

There are a few changes to the Daves bread order:
-We are now purchasing bread the First Wednesday of every month, instead of the last.
-So, this Wednesday, May 2nd, we will Have bread at Swap for pick up.
-Also, the bread will not be ready for pick up till NOON.
Daves wholesale store has pushed our pick up time till later in the morning so sorting will not commence till around 10am.
-Please pick your bread up on Wednesday!
If you cannot pick up on Wednesday, shoot me an e-mail or call so I can bring it home with me for storing till you can come get it ๐Ÿ™‚
-Please be considerate of the co-op and co-op community by picking your bread up on time and keeping the food area tidy.

We will have a printed copy of the spread sheet with your order total price printed on it and a signout sheet (separate from the spreadsheet print off) located in the sign in book in Swap along with a payment envelope. Please check the amount owed on pick up as it might be different depending of bread availability. Please mark off on the sign out sheet that you have pick up and what type of payment and leave payment in the envelope. (make checks payable to woodlawn swapnplay) or you can paypal your order total to beth@woodlawnswapnplay.org.

Thanks everyone! for Making Woodlawn Swap N Play AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s Support the NW Mother’s Milk Bank

The students from my PSU capstone class “Current Issues in Pregnancy and Birth” have partnered with the Northwest Mother’s Milk Bank to help them raise money so we can process milk for babies in need here in the northwest. We are trying to raise $10,000 by the end of spring term to help purchase needed equipment. This will hugely benefit premie babies in the NICU especially–if you have any experience with this and want to share your story or donate, please do so on facebook or on our fundraising website:
Every dollar helps!!!
Donations are safe and tax deductible.
Please share this email and help us Fill Their Bottles!!!!

You can also check out our facebook page www.facebook.com/filltheirbottles and please pass it along to others!

Thank you!
Veggies CSA Options for Swap ‘n Play
a message from JJ and Liz…

As it turns out – we have another option for CSA. Dancing Roots farm is willing to work with us as well. Some of you have let me know about your interest in the a la carte veggies from Pete, which we will still do, but if anyone is interested in a Dancing Roots full CSA share, for $530, please let me know. If 20 families commit, the price drops to $505/share.

WE make a yearly investment into the farm, and for 26 weeks we reap the benefits of what the farm produces.
In this case it’s about $20 a week for incredible, heirloom,
sustainable fruits and veggies that are not commonly found at New seasons or the likes. Plus they are picked that DAY!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Soooooooooo, We’ll get carrots but not regular carrots, they will be a variety that tastes and looks different!

Farmer Shari goes out of her way to find very hearty, 1 of a kind seeds, that grow well in the Pacific NW.She rotates the crops all season so we get a fun variety, not just Zucchini, for the 26 weeks. She sells to some of the best restaurants…ie Lincoln and Natural Selection. to name a couple. There are a few pick up sites during the week, one will be very close to WSP.Shari sets the produce for the week out, with a list of what we can take. We go thru the produce ourselves with our own bags and chose what we want within limits of the farm share. Shari always has paperwork to give us with a description of the veggies, their history and recipes. The pick up site is generally lively, social andย  community driven!
